| Swim current | PartlyTwo swim jets on every model except the J-13, whose count isn't published; 4 to 10 hp of swim power, plus buoyancy jets on the bigger ones. | PartlyDepends on the line: a propeller on the two MP models, airless jets on Challenger, air-injected jets on Trainer, a two-speed stream on Therapool. |
| Room to swim | PartlyJacuzzi publishes a usable swim length for every model, 96 to 148 in, but no water depth, and its own J-16 figures disagree. | Not publishedMaster Spas doesn't publish this. |
| Frame and shell | YesGalvanized steel frame on a moisture-proof polymer base under a three-layer acrylic shell; frame gauge and shell backing are not published. | PartlyA coated wood frame under an acrylic shell, by Master Spas' own list; nothing published on shell backing, lumber size or frame design. |
| Site prep | YesClear, detailed install guides: a 4-6 in reinforced slab on crushed stone for 250 lb/sq ft, usually a crane, and 50 or 60 A (two circuits on the J-19DT). | YesClearly published: a 4-inch rebar-reinforced concrete pad, 3 feet of clearance all round, and 50 to 130 amps by model. |
| Running cost | PartlyFull foam plus heat-reflecting insulation on most models and heat-pump-ready plumbing, but Jacuzzi publishes no energy figure for any swim spa. | YesFull foam on every model; where California has a listing, standby runs about half to four-fifths of the allowed limit. |
| Dual zone | YesThe J-19DT is a true dual-temperature spa: a walled-off hot tub with its own electronics, controls and 50 A circuit. | YesFour models have a true separate hot tub on its own controls: Trainer 21, Trainer 21D, Challenger 21D and MP Momentum D. |
| Service access | YesJacuzzi requires access to every side (24 in crawl space, 3 ft at the equipment end when recessed), and the current runs on ordinary jet pumps. | PartlyEvery skirt panel comes off and Master Spas asks for 3 feet all round; if the spa is boxed in, access costs are the owner's. |
| Warranty terms | Partly10 years structure (water loss only), 7 surface, 5 on equipment, plumbing and cabinet, parts and labor, on a 2020-dated card for the first owner only. | Partly10 years structure and 5 years parts and labor on equipment (Therapool 7 and 3), but first owner only and void if the spa is moved. |
| Cover and lifter | PartlyA sectional, lockable hard cover appears to ship with the spa; no lifter is listed, and the swim spa warranty excludes the cover. | PartlyA four-section foam cover comes standard; the lifter is extra, and the swim spa warranty doesn't cover the cover. |
| Service and origin | PartlySold and serviced through Jacuzzi dealers; Jacuzzi says only 'North America and elsewhere', and its swim spa paperwork carries Hydropool's name and Mississauga address. | PartlyBuilt in Fort Wayne, Indiana with U.S. and imported parts and sold through dealers; warranty service starts with the dealer who sold it, and whether that dealer has its own technicians and parts on hand isn't published. |

No manufacturer pays us. How we make money
How is the swim current made in Jacuzzi and Master Spas swim spas?
Jacuzzi uses jets in 10 models (Flow Series, PowerActive Collection, PowerPlay Collection and PowerPro Collection). Master Spas uses a propeller in 2 models (Michael Phelps Signature Swim Spas) and jets in 13 (H2X Challenger Series, H2X Therapool Series and H2X Trainer Series).
A propeller turns behind a grate and pushes one wide column of water. Jets fire water through a few nozzles, often with air mixed in, so the current is narrower and more broken up. What you feel is the width and steadiness of the water, not the horsepower on the spec sheet. The guide to swim spa jets vs propeller explains the trade-offs.
Which gives you more room to swim?
Jacuzzi publishes the open swim area for all 10 models; the longest is 148 in, on the J-19 PowerPro. Master Spas publishes outside dimensions only, so ask the dealer how long the open water is.
Outside lengths run 12 ft 4 in to 18 ft 5 in for Jacuzzi and 11 ft to 21 ft 5 in for Master Spas. By length class, Jacuzzi has 2 in the 12-foot class, 4 in the 14-foot class and 4 in the 16-foot class; Master Spas has 4 in the 12-foot class, 4 in the 14-foot class and 7 in the 16-foot class. At the dealer, lie out in an empty display of the model you would buy, arms overhead: your feet shouldn't reach the seats. See swim spa sizes, 12-foot swim spas, 14-foot swim spas and 16-foot swim spas, and best swim spas for lap swimming.
Water held runs 1,345 to 2,432 gallons for Jacuzzi and 925 to 2,445 for Master Spas. More water means more to heat, treat and carry: have a builder or engineer check the pad or deck for the filled weight.
What electrical service do Jacuzzi and Master Spas swim spas need?
Jacuzzi's models call for 50 to 110 A in total on 1 to 2 circuits; Master Spas' call for 50 to 130 A on 1 to 3 circuits. The top of each range is the J-19DT PowerPro and the MP Momentum D. A licensed electrician sizes the circuits for the model you buy. See swim spa electrical requirements.
Which uses less power on standby?
Only Master Spas has filings we could match: its 7 filed models draw a median 306 W, about 223 kWh a month holding temperature. None of Jacuzzi's 10 models matched a California filing, so ask the dealer for the model's listing before you compare. The swim spa running cost guide explains the test.
How do Jacuzzi and Master Spas swim spa warranties compare?
Jacuzzi's structure warranty runs 10 years, equipment 5 years; coverage does not transfer. Master Spas' structure warranty runs 7 to 10 years, equipment 3 to 5 years; coverage does not transfer. Read the warranty card for labor and the swim system itself, which some makers cover for less time than the shell.
Which costs less, Jacuzzi or Master Spas?
Master Spas reported prices run from $25,499 to $54,499 (September 2026). Jacuzzi doesn't post prices, so a dealer's quote is the only figure. Swim spa cost covers delivery, the pad and the electrician.
Who makes them, and where?
Jacuzzi belongs to Investindustrial, the same owner as Sundance and Dimension One. Master Spas is privately held. Where each builds its swim spas, and who services them:
- Jacuzzi. Sold and serviced through Jacuzzi dealers; Jacuzzi says only 'North America and elsewhere', and its swim spa paperwork carries Hydropool's name and Mississauga address.
- Master Spas. Built in Fort Wayne, Indiana with U.S. and imported parts and sold through dealers; warranty service starts with the dealer who sold it, and whether that dealer has its own technicians and parts on hand isn't published.
