A complete home massage, with seats built around named massage styles and Champagne Air bubbles, on a lifetime steel frame with insulation you can service at home, built in Arizona and priced under the big premium names.
Partly trueSeven massage stylesVita sells the tub as a full-body massage like a masseuse gives, with seats built around named techniques…1 catchDetails
The pitchVita sells the tub as a full-body massage like a masseuse gives, with seats built around named techniques: Shiatsu finger-pressure jets, kneading Petrissage rotators, upward-sweeping Effleurage streams, pulsing Tapotement, circular jets and reflexology foot jets.
Offered on: 300, 500 and 700 Series (varies by model)
Our takeThe seat types exist and are listed model by model: Petrissage on seven models, Effleurage on four 700 Series tubs, Shiatsu on five 500 Series tubs and reflexology foot jets on eight. The masseuse comparison and the health benefits are stated without any study or test.
Who else has it: Named therapy seats are standard: Caldera builds its seats as circuit-therapy stations, Sundance has its Accu-Ssage seat and Dimension One its UltraLounge. Sister brand American Whirlpool, built on the same frame, insulation and pumps, sells the same idea as Zone Therapy.
The catchThe seven massage styles are seat layouts built from three ordinary jet types. The owner's manual describes only adjustable directional, adjustable rotating and fixed Euro jets, and nothing backs the masseuse comparison. The 2026 Vita manual's jet section, word for word the same as sister brand American Whirlpool's, lists just those three types. MAAX said in 2024 that its new Vita jet designs were developed with Waterway, a mainstream jet supplier.

The pitchA blower feeds rows of small air jets for a soft, fizzy all-over massage, which dealers say improves circulation and helps sore muscles let go.
Offered on: Standard on Riviera, Vivre, Rendezvous and Mystique; option on Cabaret and most 300 and 500 Series models
Our takeThe feature is real: standard on the Riviera and Vivre (14 air jets) and the Rendezvous and Mystique (20), and a 10-jet option on most 300 and 500 Series models. The circulation and toxin-removal benefits are asserted with no evidence cited.
Who else has it: Air blowers are a long-standing option: Sundance's SilentAir injectors on its 880 and 980 Series and the AeroMAAX Plus blower on sister brand American Whirlpool's 881 do the same job.
Partly trueFew othersSteel frame, backyard serviceableThe 500 and 700 Series sit on a galvanized steel frame over a sealed ABS pan, which Vita says is lighter and…Details
The pitchThe 500 and 700 Series sit on a galvanized steel frame over a sealed ABS pan, which Vita says is lighter and far stronger than wood and is covered for life. Everything inside can be reached and restored to factory spec without hauling the tub away.
Offered on: 500 and 700 Series
Our takeThe steel frame and its lifetime limited warranty are on the 500 and 700 Series warranty sheets, while the 100 and 300 Series use wood or hybrid frames. The 40%-lighter and 250%-stronger-than-wood figures come with no test, gauge or standard behind them.
Who else has it: It is the same MAAX frame used by sister brand American Whirlpool. Sundance's 880 Series (steel frame, 10-year frame warranty) and Jacuzzi's J5 (steel and synthetic frame members) are the closest rivals, and Bullfrog gives a lifetime warranty on its plastic frame.
Often said, not trueRival dealers say the galvanized frame is thin, twists and rusts at the joints. The claim traces to competing dealers' 2018 forum posts; no owner report or photo of a failed MAAX steel frame turned up, though the maker publishes no steel gauge. The frame is warranted against rust perforation for the original owner only.
The catchThe seven massage styles are seat layouts built from three ordinary jet types. The owner's manual describes only adjustable directional, adjustable rotating and fixed Euro jets, and nothing backs the masseuse comparison.

The pitchInstead of spray foam, the walls, floor and cover are lined with a copper heat reflector, recycled-fiber panels and a Thinsulate wrap that recycle pump heat, keep the tub quiet and come out and go back in at your house. Vita tells dealers it is built for extreme climates.
Offered on: 500 and 700 Series (100 and 300 Series use the lighter Vital Energy recycled-fiber insulation)
Our takeThe patent is real and so is the access benefit. Vita publishes no standby-watt figures to back the energy and extreme-climate claims, and California fined parent MAAX in 2018 for selling spas there without the required efficiency tests.
Who else has it: The layered design is patented by MAAX (US 9,938,740) and shared only with American Whirlpool. PDC's TemperLok, Cal Spas' recycled-denim walls and Hydropool's thermal blanket are other non-foam, reflective approaches.
The catchIt lines the cabinet walls rather than filling the cavity, and Vita offers no number to back the extreme-climate pitch: no R-value, no standby watts, no test. MAAX's patent (US 9,938,740) calls for about 2 to 3 inches of recycled-cotton batt plus roughly half an inch of Thinsulate behind a copper reflector and reports no heat-loss data. California fined MAAX $152,500 in 2018 for selling spas there in 2015 to 2017 without testing them before certification.
Often said, not trueCompeting dealers say the batt insulation costs more to run than full foam in cold climates. No measured energy use has been published by either side. The critics in the forum threads were rival dealers, while a Canadian owner of a MAAX-built tub reported in 2018 that it held heat with daily use at -38°C.

The pitchThe flagship 700 Series carries a lifetime steel-frame warranty, 10 years on the shell structure and 5 years on the surface, pumps, heater, controls and plumbing.
Offered on: 700 Series only; the 500 Series uses a shorter term (lifetime frame, 7-year structure, 3-year surface and equipment)
Our takeThe terms are real and published, but the surface (5 years) and cabinet (2 years) trail rivals such as Caldera's Utopia, Jacuzzi's J5 and Sundance's 880. Coverage can't be transferred, and the clock starts at installation or one year after manufacture, whichever comes first. The sheets carry a May 2018 revision date, and the 100 Series gets only 1 year on everything.
Who else has it: Ten years on the structure and five on equipment matches Caldera's Utopia, Jacuzzi's J5 and Sundance's 880, and those also give 7 years on the surface and 5 on the cabinet. The lifetime frame term is the one extra, and Bullfrog offers the same on its frame.
The catchCovered repairs can still cost you, and the clock may start before you buy: the servicer may bill reasonable labor and travel, and coverage runs from installation or one year after manufacture, whichever comes first. Both clauses are printed on the 700 Series sheet (rev. 05/2018), which also makes coverage non-transferable and void if the serial label is missing. An aged showroom tub can arrive with less than the headline term left.

The pitchDealers close on value: a Vita comes in under the big premium names with ozone and UV, Bluetooth audio, steps and a cover lifter already in the price.
Offered on: mainly 300 and 500 Series
Our takeIts maker doesn't post prices, so we can't check the price part of this claim.
Who else has it: Bundled value is the standard pitch for mid-priced brands; Caldera's lower lines and Hot Spring's Hot Spot line compete on the same ground.
The catchThe included ozone, UV and audio are factory options that the dealer bundles into a package price; with no Vita MSRP, you can't see what each piece adds. Even the flagship Rendezvous page lists CleanZone, CleanZone Ultra, the circulation pump, Vita Tunes and AquaGlo as optional add-ons, and Vita publishes no prices.
The catchThe bundled UV brings a running cost: a new bulb every 12 to 18 months that the warranty excludes, on an add-on the 700 Series sheet covers for just 1 year. The 700 Series warranty sheet gives both terms; parts stores list the AquaNova bulb used in MAAX UV/ozone units at about $139 and a whole replacement UV/ozone unit at about $398. UV bulb $138.77 (part 110477) and replacement CleanZone Ultra unit $397.77 (part 110838), both from Hot Tub Outpost

The pitchVita leads with being American-made and with more than 30 years of history, and tells dealers it is one of North America's most established hot tub makers.
Our takeThe tubs are built in Chandler, Arizona. But the 30-year history spans two companies: the original Florida maker filed for Chapter 11 in 2009, and MAAX bought the name and moved production to Arizona that year.
Who else has it: Most US dealer brands also build at home, including Master Spas and Cal Spas, and sister brand American Whirlpool comes out of the same Chandler, Arizona plant.
The catchThe 30-plus years span two companies: the original Florida maker filed for Chapter 11 in March 2009, and MAAX bought the name that year and moved production to Arizona. A 2009 news item quoted on a spa forum reports the Opa-locka, Florida company's filing, and a 2019 trade profile says MAAX acquired Vita out of Florida in 2009. Tubs built before then came from a different company.
Other things to know1
Often said, not trueRival claim: Vita parts are proprietary and hard to get. The electronics are Balboa (MXBP control packs, TP500/TP740 and SmartTouch 2 topsides, ControlMySpa Wi-Fi) and the pumps are standard 56-frame units, all sold by independent stores. One wrinkle: sister brand American Whirlpool now uses Gecko controls, so the twins don't share boards.
What rivals and critics say4
Competing dealers argue the batt-style fiber insulation holds heat worse than full foam and costs more to run in cold climates. Our check: Nobody posted measured energy use, and Vita publishes no standby watts to settle it. The claim comes almost entirely from sellers of rival brands.
Rivals say the thin galvanized steel frame can twist and rust at its joints, and that a gap where the skirt meets the frame lets rodents in.Our check: These are dealer opinions; no owner-documented frame failure on a MAAX-built Vita turned up. The frame carries a lifetime warranty for the original owner.
Dealers call MAAX disorganized and slow on support, with wrong parts sent and weak help for older tubs. Our check: Recent owner reviews echo part of this: two 2025-26 buyers say they got no model-specific manual, and one got a wrong electrical-entry diagram. The samples are tiny, and the MAAX profile at the Better Business Bureau shows only two complaints in three years.
A rival dealer questions the brand's stability, pointing to its string of owners and a bankruptcy. Our check: The history is real: the original Florida maker filed for Chapter 11 in 2009 and MAAX bought the brand. It matters mainly for used tubs built before 2009, which came from a different company.

What they complain about
Costlier to heat in coldDealers and techs say Vita's fiber-batt perimeter insulation costs more to run than full foam in cold climates; a sister-brand owner disagrees.
Control board failuresSeveral owners report burnt circuit boards, power-board error codes or blown fuses, sometimes with slow repairs.
Missing model documentationRecent 2025 and 2026 buyers report no model-specific manual and an incorrect electrical-entry diagram.

What decides whether a tub lasts is mostly hidden under the shell. Here is what Vita Spa publishes about it, and where it publishes nothing, we say so.

How it's kept hotInsulationNorthern Exposure on the 500 and 700 Series: copper reflector, removable BlueMAAX recycled-fiber panels and 3M Thinsulate wrap, instead of full foam.
PartlySelf-supporting shell · Applies to: All models: wood frame on the 100 and 300 Series, steel frame on the 500 and 700 Series
Every model sits in a perimeter frame: wood on the 100 and 300 Series, steel on the 500 and 700. Vita warrants the vessel and the frame as separate parts. No foam holds the shell up either, but nothing published shows it standing on its own.
Not publishedClamped plumbing · Applies to: All models
Vita never says how pipe is joined to its fittings, and no teardown photos are public. The manuals only mention hand-tight unions at the pumps and heater. These tubs are not foam-filled, so a dealer can pull a side panel and show you the joints.
Not publishedManifold-fed jets · Applies to: All models
Larger models split their jets across two or three pumps with diverter valves, so seats run on separate zones. Nothing says whether each jet gets its own feed off a manifold or runs in series. The open plumbing bay makes this checkable in person.
Electronics and pumps come from Balboa and Gecko, so boards, heaters and topsides are parts an independent tech can buy. The jets, side panels and control branding are Vita's own, there is no public parts catalog, and the warranty voids if a non-authorized tech works on it.
PartlyCompression-fitted jets · Applies to: All series
Parts sellers list Vita jet bodies with a nut, gasket and compression ring. Newer bodies shared with American Whirlpool press into a rubber grommet with no nut. Vita doesn't say which current tubs use, and nothing shows glued bodies.
YesAdjustable jets · Applies to: All models; most jets adjust, but ozone, Euro and some high-flow jets are fixed
Turn the outer ring on a directional or rotating jet to set its flow, and aim the nozzle where you want it. The Euro jet stays open because ozone feeds through it. Air controls on the lip work in groups, not per jet.
Vita sells through pool and spa retailers, and your dealer handles delivery, install and warranty work. The locator is a contact form rather than a map, so you can't check who covers your area before handing over your details. Labor and travel can be billed on covered repairs.
