How big is a hot tub for 6 people?

About 7 ft x 7 ft: the median six-seater is 84 x 84 x 37 in and holds 392 gallons. Six seats is the most common size we track, with 141 of 386 models. Full of water it weighs about 4,340 lb, so the base matters as much as the footprint: see what to put a hot tub on.

What size hot tub do I need?

Count the people who will use it on a normal night, then check the footprint. Between five and seven seats the shell grows less than you might think: the medians are 83 x 82 in for five, 84 x 84 in for six and 89 x 89 in for seven. For two people, see 2-person hot tubs; for a family of four, 4-person hot tubs; for big groups, 8-person hot tubs.

Lounger or open seating?

A LoungerA full-length reclined seat you lie back in with your legs out. It uses room inside the same shell rather than making the tub bigger. In the glossary is a full-length reclined seat you lie back in. It does not make the shell longer: six- and seven-seaters with one have a median length of 86 in, and those without 85 in. It uses room inside the same box that upright seats would otherwise take. Open seatingA layout of upright seats all the way around, with no lounger, so more people fit in the same size tub.In the glossary puts upright seats all the way around.

At the showroom, lie in the lounger: check that your feet reach the end and your shoulders stay under water. Tubs that have one are on hot tubs with a lounger.

How tall is a hot tub?

The median cabinet is 36 in tall, from 29 to 42 in, measured from the ground to the top of the cabinet before the cover. Makers don't publish water or seat depth, so sit in the deepest and shallowest seats at the showroom to feel the difference.
