How the quiz picks your matches
- Must-haves first. Of the 390 hot tubs from 15 brands, the ones that miss your seat count, lounger choice, space or power answer are set aside. If fewer than three are left, the last of those filters is loosened and the results say which.
- Then a score for the rest. Each answer is checked against a published fact: seats, lounger, jet pump power, cabinet height (the nearest published figure to depth), footprint, a 120V plug, standby power measured for the California Energy Commission (it counts more in a colder climate), price against your budget, the 8 build checks and the warranty. No brand is scored up or down for anything else.
- The best build, then three matches. The top scores, one per brand, so you can compare three showrooms. First comes the best build: of the tubs that fit your answers best, from every brand, the one whose maker passes the most build checks. The three matches come from other brands.
