No manufacturer pays us. How we make money
The maker doesn't publish the open water on the S180XD. Seats, steps and the current housing take their share of the 15′, so ask the dealer for it.
The same pumps also feed the seats, so current and massage share the power. 5 speed settings.
How currents compare →Lap swimmers like 78 to 82°F and a hot tub runs 100 to 104, so you pick a compromise or change the setting and wait.
Is dual temperature worth it →Watts it draws just holding temperature with the cover on, as filed with the state of California.
What they like
One tub for soaking, swimming and kids' play
Families describe using it as a hot tub in cool months and, with the heat turned down, as a pool in summer; grandchildren play in the current. One S200 owner keeps it at 95°F and treats it as a heated pool.
Easy to swim at gentle settings
An S150 owner who admits to not being the best of swimmers found a rhythm and stayed centered within five minutes, and an S200 owner says swim mode works well on lower settings for light swims.
What they complain about
The cover or lifter blocks the swim tether
Two owners, one with an S150 (January 2026) and one with an S200 (August 2026), say they can't use the swim tether because the cover or a CoverMate lifter sits where the tether rod mounts; the S150 owner says the problem went unresolved.
Rough at high speed, a little shallow
An S200 owner says the stronger current settings knock you around and out of the lane and the water is a few inches too shallow for water aerobics; a 6’2" S150 owner says tether swimming is tight.
These findings cover the Bullfrog Spas swim spa line; each names the models it applies to.
Doesn’t have: cover lifter.
240 V / 60 Hz, 50 A, single-phase, 4-wire (L1, L2, N, G) dedicated circuit with GFCI protection, permanently connected, copper wire only. Phase and amperage are set automatically at first connection and confirmed by the installer (Bullfrog's delivery page gives an input amperage of 40 for a 50 A service); Bullfrog publishes no heater lockout for the Swim Series on 50 A.

Every Swim Series model makes its current with two jets, one near the surface and one angled up from deeper, which Bullfrog says keeps your legs up and you in the lane. The touch screen offers speeds 1 to 5 and preset drills. A valve switches the spa between seat jets and swim current, and the only equipment view Bullfrog prints (the S150's) shows no separate swim pump; Bullfrog gives no horsepower, flow or width to compare.

Bullfrog prints only outside sizes: 152, 180 and 204 inches long, 52 inches tall, 60 on the extra-deep S180XD. It publishes no open swim-lane length and no water depth for any model. It calls the 13-seat S150 a large spa whose current allows "some swimming and play", and pitches the S180XD and S200 to more serious swimmers.

Every Swim Series spa sits on Bullfrog's EnduraFrame: an injection-molded ABS frame with ABS columns and a molded ABS base pan, filled with foam. It can't rot or rust, and the frame has a lifetime warranty against degradation for the original owner. Bullfrog publishes no rib or wall thickness, nothing about what backs the acrylic, and no load test for a 17-foot wall.

Bullfrog approves a reinforced concrete slab at least 4 inches thick or a deck built to a structural engineer's certified plans, level within half an inch over 8 feet and never shimmed. Filled weights run 11,924 to 21,380 pounds before people. Each model needs one 240-volt, 50-amp GFCI circuit, and the manual expects most installs to be craned in.

Bullfrog fills the cabinet with closed-cell foam and ships a lockable fabric cover. California's listings put the S150 at 239 or 301 watts depending on the cover tested (limit 461) and the S180XD at 330 (limit 606); the S200 is listed at 535 watts with no limit printed, which by our arithmetic is about 86% of the limit California's formula gives. Bullfrog lists no heat pump or cooling option, and the lowest set point is 80°F.

Bullfrog says outright that the Swim Series does not offer a dual-zone swim spa. Every model is one body of water with four JetPak seats, other seating and a swim lane, heated together. That suits families who mostly soak and play; someone who wants cool water to swim and hot water to soak would have to change the setting and wait.

Bullfrog tells owners that a technician will usually pull the equipment door and sometimes side panels, so every side must stay reachable, including on partly in-ground installs. Much of the seat plumbing lives in the JetPaks, which lift out from inside the spa. The control pack is a mainstream Gecko part (an in.yt-9 on Bullfrog's wiring pages); the JetPaks themselves are Bullfrog-only.

The Swim Series card gives a lifetime frame warranty, 10 years against shell leaks, 7 on the surface and 5 on equipment, plumbing, cabinet and JetPak manifolds. It names no labor term, charges the owner for removal and reinstallation whenever a replacement spa or part is supplied, and lets Bullfrog require a swim spa to be moved for repair at the owner's cost. It covers the first owner only and is void if the spa is moved.

Every model ships with Bullfrog's Patio Performance cover, a fabric-skinned cover it says is up to 25% lighter than standard vinyl, with locks that meet the ASTM spa safety-cover standard. Lifters, which mount at each end, and a roll-up cover are options. Two owners say the cover or its lifter blocks the swim tether mount, and the S150's two California listings differ by 62 watts on the cover tested.

Bullfrog converted its Bluffdale, Utah plant to build the Swim Series in 2022 and describes its spas as assembled in the USA. Warranty work is done by Bullfrog staff, its dealers or authorized third-party service companies, and the manual sends owners to an "Authorized Swim Series Dealership". Owners on Bullfrog's own review feed report both quick fixes and weeks-long waits for leak repairs.

What Bullfrog Spas leads with, where it covers the S180XD, and what the documents show.
What they sayBullfrog pitches the Swim Series as the only swim spa with its JetPak Therapy System: four removable massage seat-backs come standard, chosen from 16 styles, and you can move them between seats by hand or upgrade them later.
What the documents showThe swappable JetPaks are real, but every model gets exactly four, each JetPak has one valve for all its jets, and a mode valve switches the spa between Spa Mode and Swim Mode; Bullfrog never says seats and current can run at full strength together.
Who else does itBullfrog says it is the only swim spa with the JetPak system, and none of the other swim spa lines in our research sells removable jet-seat modules. Bullfrog's patent on its current interchangeable jet modules, US 9,662,268, is listed as active until April 4, 2034.
Applies to: S150, S180XD, S200
The catch
Only four JetPak seats, and a valve switches between seats and swim current. Every Swim Series model has exactly four JetPak seats, whatever its seat count. An electronic valve switches the spa between Spa Mode and Swim Mode, with about 20 seconds when neither works; the S150's equipment view shows only two jet pumps and a filtration pump, and Bullfrog never says whether seats and current can run at full power together. Extra or replacement JetPaks cost $751 to $1,209 each at an online Bullfrog parts store.
What they sayTwo swim jets, one near the surface and one angled up from deeper, shape the current so your body stays level and in the lane, and the touch screen runs preset and custom swim drills with lighted jets marking the lane.
What the documents showOne S150 owner who admits to not being the best of swimmers says they stayed centered within five minutes, and an S200 owner says it works well on lower settings. But Bullfrog publishes no flow, width, horsepower or top speed, the range is five steps, and that S200 owner says the stronger settings knock you around and out of the lane.
Who else does itJet-driven currents are the most common kind in swim spas (Master Spas' H2X Challenger uses six airless jets, for example); the stacked two-jet angle is Bullfrog's own twist, but we found no patent or test showing it performs better.
Applies to: S150, S180XD, S200
Partly a catch
An unmeasured current with five speeds. Bullfrog gives no pump horsepower, flow, current width or top speed for any Swim Series model, so the current can't be compared on paper. One S200 owner says the stronger settings knock you around and out of the lane and thinks faster swimmers would not find them ideal, and a 6’2" S150 owner says tether swimming is tight; those are single owners, so hold your hand across the current on a running display.
What they sayEvery Swim Series spa is built on the molded ABS EnduraFrame, EnduraBeam columns and EnduraBase, with no wood or metal to rot or rust, and the frame carries a lifetime warranty.
What the documents showABS can't rot, but Bullfrog publishes nothing on how the frame carries a 17-foot wall of water, and in 2025 the National Advertising Division found it hadn't supported claims that its spas outlast conventional ones.
Who else does itOf the other swim spa lines in our research that publish their structure, all use steel, wood or a self-supporting fiberglass shell: galvanized steel at Endless Pools' E-Series (14 gauge), Jacuzzi and American Whirlpool, stainless steel at Wellis, wood at Master Spas, Cal Spas, Artesian and Endless Pools' R200, and PDC and Arctic Spas say their fiberglass-backed shells carry themselves. Bullfrog's molded plastic frame is the only one of its kind we found.
Applies to: S150, S180XD, S200
The catch
Lifetime frame, owner-paid removal and freight. The frame warranty covers "degradation" for the original buyer only and ends if the spa is sold or moved. After seven years a structure or frame failure means shipping the spa to Bullfrog at your expense, and whenever the spa has to come out for a repair, removal, reinstallation, cranes and decking are the owner's cost at any age.
What they sayThe Swim Series is sold as a whole-family backyard: the S150 seats 13 with a 14-jet splash pad for kids, an exercise seat and rails, while the longer S200 and extra-deep S180XD give more room to swim.
What the documents showThe layouts are as described, and families on Bullfrog's review feed say they use it for play, soaking and summer swimming.
Who else does itBullfrog calls its splash pad "one-of-a-kind" in its 'What is the best swim spa' article; none of the other swim spa lines we researched lists a jetted floor play pad, though we did not survey every model.
Applies to: Splash pad on the S150 and S200 spec tables. The S180XD's spec table and overhead render show none, although its model page repeats the series 'Splash Zone Play Area' text and a Bullfrog article credits it with one. Seats: S150 13, S200 9, S180XD 5.
What they sayEvery Swim Series spa comes with Clear Comfort advanced-oxidation water care and Bullfrog's Simplicity in-wall flat filter with dual skimmer intakes, pitched as cleaner water with fewer chemicals and cheaper filters.
What the documents showBoth systems are real and standard, but Bullfrog publishes no filtration area or water-quality test, and the upkeep is frequent: a new flat filter every four weeks and a new AOP cartridge about yearly.
Who else does itBullfrog calls Simplicity an "industry-first flat filter"; we did not find another swim spa maker using a flat in-wall filter, but did not survey every line. Clear Comfort AOP is standard only on the Swim Series and an upgrade on Bullfrog's hot tubs.
Applies to: S150, S180XD, S200
The catch
Monthly filters and a yearly cartridge. The manual says to replace each Simplicity filter every four weeks; Bullfrog's store sells them at $79.99 for four, and doesn't say how many a swim spa uses. The AOP cartridge is exchanged about once a year, and water care systems are warranted for just one year, filters only through delivery.
What they sayBullfrog builds the Swim Series in its own Bluffdale, Utah plant, converted for swim spas when the line launched in 2022.
What the documents showThe plant history is on Bullfrog's own site; its wording is "assembled in the USA", with components such as the Gecko control pack coming from outside suppliers.
Who else does itMany swim spa makers build in North America: Master Spas in Indiana, PDC in Pennsylvania, Hydropool in Ontario.
Applies to: S150, S180XD, S200
Years of cover as Bullfrog Spas publishes them. Who pays labor, travel and removal matters as much as the years, so read the card before you sign.
Original purchaser only; ends on sale; void if the spa is moved from its original location or on an unapproved foundation. Owner pays removal and reinstallation, mileage, shipping and delivery when a replacement spa or part is supplied, plus non-standard access costs (vaults, cranes, decking, stone or concrete). Swim Series clause: if repair in place is not feasible, Bullfrog may require the spa to be moved at the owner's cost. After 7 years a structure or frame failure means shipping the spa to Bullfrog at the owner's expense. Pillows, metal jet faces, accessory anchors, skimmers, seat and floor coverings and filters are covered only through delivery; cover 3 years; lighting, audio and water care 1 year. Replacement parts may be reconditioned.
