What does a hot tub recall cover?

A recall is announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission together with the company. The notice names the product, the hazard, how many units were sold and when, and the fix. Most hot tub recalls are about one part, not the whole tub, and the part often comes from a supplier: the 2001 heater recall covered No-Fault 6000 heaters made by TruHeat, and the 2019 valve-cap recall was issued by Custom Molded Products, which made the caps. 4 of the 7 recalls here were fire hazards from electrical parts.

How do you check whether your hot tub is recalled?

Start with the model name, model year and serial number from your paperwork or the label on the tub, then read the notice. Notices are specific. The Feb 2026 jet recall covers eight Highlife models from the 2023 to 2025 model years, and the 2022 sensor recall covers Jacuzzi J-200 to J-500 and Sundance 680 to 980 tubs sold from July 2021 to December 2022. If yours matches, call the dealer who sold it or the maker's customer service line listed in the notice. You can also search every recall on the CPSC site.

What should you do if your hot tub is recalled?

Follow the remedy in the notice. Remedies vary, and every one in our table was free. For the 2022 sensor recall, owners were told to check the water with a separate thermometer and stay out above 104°F until a dealer replaced the sensor. For the 2026 jet recall, owners switch the jet off and fit free replacement inserts that are shipped to them. For the valve caps, owners were told to stop using the spa until the cap was replaced.

Which hot tub brands have no recalls?

We searched CPSC and Health Canada records for every brand and found no CPSC recall for Artesian Spas, Bullfrog Spas, Cal Spas, Caldera Spas, Dimension One Spas, Marquis, Nordic Hot Tubs, PDC Spas and Wellis. That is a record, not a safety rating: a brand with no recall can still have complaints, and a recall that fixed a part quickly says little about the rest of the tub. For complaint records and ratings, see hot tub reviews; for how each brand builds its tubs, see hot tub brands compared. Buying secondhand? Check the serial number against these notices first; see buying a used hot tub.
