Round or square?
A circle covers about 79% of the square it fits in, so a round tub gives up the four corners. In our catalog the 5 round tubs that are 84 inches across hold a median 330 gallons and seat 6; the 76 square tubs that are 84 x 84 inches hold a median 350 gallons and seat 6.
What you get for the corners: every seat faces the middle, and there are no corners to overhang a curved deck or a gazebo. Sit in it with the people you soak with before you buy.
Other shapes and sizes
Every seat count and footprint, round or square, is on the hot tub sizes page. The full catalog of 390 models is on the hot tubs page.

Common questions
How big is a round hot tub?
The 16 round models we track measure 78 to 84 inches across and hold 240 to 330 gallons.
How many people fit in a round hot tub?
Makers list 3 to 6 seats. None of the round models we track seats more than 6.
Do round hot tubs have loungers?
Rarely. 2 of the 16 list a lounger (Marquis Monaco and Marquis Monaco Elite) and 11 list open seating around the wall.
Is a round hot tub smaller than a square one?
For the same width, yes. A circle covers about 79% of the square it fits in, so an 84-inch round tub holds less water than an 84 x 84 inch square tub.
How much does a round hot tub cost?
3 of the 16 tubs here have a published price, from $8,499 to $9,113. Each card says what its figure is: the maker's list price (MSRP). 1 more shows only a series starting range. The other 12 are priced on request by a dealer.
