The owner of a 15-foot swim spa delivered in January 2026 says the rubber step treads were floating by April and still hadn't been replaced by September; the salesperson said they were waiting on a new manufacturer (the review doesn't say whether that means the dealer or PDC), and the fix means draining, re-gluing and refilling the spa (Google review, updated September 2026).

Owner reports as of September 2026.

What PDC Spas is known for

What salespeople lead with, checked against PDC Spas’s own documents and public records. Of these eight, three hold up, four are partly true and one is mostly marketing.

Partly trueOnly PDC SpasPatented side-by-side dual propellersTruSwim is PDC's propeller line: two hydraulic propellers side by side behind a honeycomb grate, which PDC…The catch: A hydraulic drive with a 3-year overhaul and a 2-year warranty

The pitchTruSwim is PDC's propeller line: two hydraulic propellers side by side behind a honeycomb grate, which PDC calls the only such system, patented, pushing nearly 5,000 gallons a minute down a 29-inch-wide lane with 20 speeds and programmable workouts.

Offered on: TSX15, TSX17, TSX19, TSX219

Our takeThe patent, the dual props and the 29-inch lane are documented. 'Widest, smoothest' and the flow figure are PDC's own claims with no test method; its 2018 flyer calls the 4,000-5,000 gpm an estimate.

Who else has it: PDC holds US 10,596,439 B2 (granted 2020, assigned to Plastic Development Company; Google Patents lists an anticipated expiration of January 2036) on side-by-side propellers driving a current at least twice as wide as it is deep. PDC's 2018 flyer contrasts it with single-propeller rivals, and Endless Pools' propeller swim spas use one Hydrodrive propeller.

The catchA hydraulic drive with a 3-year overhaul and a 2-year warranty. PDC's 2026 TruSwim manual recommends a yearly oil check with PDC-only oil, a drain-down inspection at 2 years, and replacement of the hydraulic motors, stainless hydraulic lines and props at 3 years. The 2026 warranty covers that propulsion system for only 2 years, parts and labor. PDC publishes no cost for the work.

The pitchEvery PDC swim spa page states its open, barrier-free 'fitness area', from 100 inches on the dual-zone models to 160 inches on the 19-foot Summit and Synergy, and the side-step 'S' versions add 18 inches by trading a seat.

Our takeThe same figures appear on the product pages and as 'Fitness Length' in the rev. 2026/05 manuals, so a buyer can compare lanes before visiting a store.

Who else has it: Most swim spas in our research list only the outside cabinet size. PDC is one of the makers that also prints the usable swim length, with Jacuzzi, Hydropool and Cal Spas.

Partly trueFew others35-year structure warrantyEvery PDC swim spa and Splash carries what PDC calls an industry-leading warranty: 35 years on structure, 15…The catch: PDC pays shell repairs for 20 years, labor for 3, at its factory

The pitchEvery PDC swim spa and Splash carries what PDC calls an industry-leading warranty: 35 years on structure, 15 on the finish, 5 on components and 3 on labor.

Our takeThe 35 years is on the 2026 card, but it covers only leaks through the fiberglass, the first owner at the first address, and the fine print limits what PDC pays.

Who else has it: Longer than the 10 years Master Spas gives its H2X Trainer and Challenger structure; a few rivals, such as Artesian on its TidalFit, offer lifetime structure terms.

The catchPDC pays shell repairs for 20 years, labor for 3, at its factory. The 2026 card commits PDC to paying structure repairs 'During the twenty (20) year period' and is silent on years 21-35 (the 2023 card paid 75%, then 50%). Labor stops after 3 years, repairs happen at the Williamsport factory with transport, removal and reinstallation on the owner, PDC has no authorized service representatives, and claims need written notice within 10 days.

The pitchPDC builds every swim spa start to finish at its Williamsport, Pennsylvania plant, in business since 1957, and invites buyers to wet-test at its showroom there.

Our takePDC's About page and warranty addresses place manufacturing in Williamsport, and local press describes products made start to finish on site.

Who else has it: Other swim spa makers also build in North America (SwimEx in Fall River, Massachusetts; Coast Spas in Langley, British Columbia); PDC's long run at one Pennsylvania site is the distinction, not the country.

The pitchPDC markets itself as the #1 swim spa brand for 2025 and 'Swim Spa of the Year', citing Top Ten Reviews.

Our takeTop Ten Reviews does rank PDC first, but its swim spa guide says it researched brands and counted the models on each maker's website; it doesn't describe swimming in them.

Who else has it: Review-site rankings are widely quoted by spa brands; this one is from a consumer buying guide, not an industry body.

The catchA desk-research ranking built on model count. The guide's method section describes researching options and counting models for sale on each website, and its PDC entry still describes 19 models including the discontinued Vitality series; PDC's current count is 16 swim spas plus two Splash models.

Partly trueNo foam fill, reachable plumbingPDC skips foam fill: warm pump air is trapped in the cabinet over an insulated TemperBase floor, which PDC…

The pitchPDC skips foam fill: warm pump air is trapped in the cabinet over an insulated TemperBase floor, which PDC says keeps the plumbing reachable, the spa lighter than foam-filled rivals, and the running cost around $1.50 a day.

Our takeCalifornia's listings put PDC's swim spas roughly 40-45% under the state standby limit, but the $1.50 figure has no test conditions.

Who else has it: Insulation without full foam is not unusual: Hydropool describes foam at the shell with blankets elsewhere and says perimeter insulation is easier to service, while Master Spas foam-fills its Michael Phelps swim spas.

Partly trueThree-jet Summit currentSummit adds a third Elite Pro jet, two side by side and one centered below, on three dedicated 6 hp swim…The catch: PDC's own blog downplays jetted currents

The pitchSummit adds a third Elite Pro jet, two side by side and one centered below, on three dedicated 6 hp swim pumps, which PDC says gives the most balanced lane a jetted spa can deliver, at 690 gpm.

Offered on: SX15, SX15s, SX17, SX19, SX219, SX219s

Our takeThe jet count and pump sizes are in the 2026 manual; the 690 gpm comes from a PDC blog with no test method, and PDC does not say whether the current is airless.

Who else has it: Multi-jet swim currents are widespread (Master Spas' Challenger uses six airless jets; Endless Pools' SwimCross uses four).

The catchPDC's own blog downplays jetted currents. The same PDC blog says jetted swim spas 'aren't true swim spas', describes their current as mostly air and turbulence, and steers serious swimmers to its propeller line. PDC publishes no lane width for Summit, while it markets TruSwim's 29-inch lane as the widest.

Holds upSwim spa plus a separate 5-seat hot tubFive 19-foot dual-zone models put a 425-gallon, 5-seat hot tub beside the swim zone, each side with its own…The catch: Two circuits, a shorter lane, ozone-only hot tub

The pitchFive 19-foot dual-zone models put a 425-gallon, 5-seat hot tub beside the swim zone, each side with its own heater, pumps and controls, so one can run at 104°F while the other stays cool for exercise.

Offered on: TSX219, SX219, SX219s, FX219, FX219s

Our takeThe 2026 manuals document a separate 5.5 kW heater, control pack and GFCI circuit per zone.

Who else has it: Jacuzzi's J-19DT PowerPro and Endless Pools' E2000 also pair an independently heated hot tub with a swim zone.

The catchTwo circuits, a shorter lane, ozone-only hot tub. Each dual-zone model needs two 50 A circuits (100 A in all), the lane drops to 100-118 inches, and on Summit and Synergy the hot tub side gets ozone only, with UV-C optional. PDC's own seat counts for these models differ by one between the product pages and the manual.

  • 2 yes
  • 8 partly
  • 0 no
  • 0 not published
Swim currentTruSwim pushes a 29-inch-wide current with two propellers; Summit and Synergy use 3…Partly

TruSwim's two hydraulic propellers sit side by side behind a honeycomb grate; PDC says that makes a 29-inch lane, and the touchscreen offers speeds 1 to 20 with timed and programmed workouts. Summit runs three Elite Pro jets on three dedicated 6 HP pumps and Synergy two on two; PDC doesn't say whether air is mixed into them. Splash is sold as a hot tub and fitness hybrid with a single jet, fine for walking or jogging in place but not for laps.

Applies to: All 18 current models.

Room to swimPDC publishes the open fitness length for every model (100 to 160 inches) but never…Partly

PDC prints a 'fitness area' on every product page: 112-114 in on the 15-footers (130 in on the side-step 'S' versions), 124-136 in at 17 ft, 148-160 in at 19 ft and 100-118 in on the dual-zone models; the manual gives 73 and 109 in for Splash. The '56" deep' on PDC's dimension line is the cabinet height, and PDC's start-up guide only says to fill 6 1/2 in below the lip. Ask the dealer to measure the water depth in the lane.

Applies to: All 18 current models.

Frame and shellA hand-rolled fiberglass shell PDC says stands without a frame; the frame material…Partly

PDC backs its Lucite cast acrylic with several layers of hand-rolled fiberglass and unfilled resin and says the shell can stand with no framed support, which our checklist rates as a best practice. The spa sits on a black plastic base (ABS, per PDC's TemperBase description, over foam and a wood layer), but PDC never says what the frame under the cabinet is made of. The 35-year structure warranty covers leaks through the fiberglass only, PDC pays for repairs for 20 of those years, and transport, removal and reinstallation are yours.

Applies to: All 18 current models (one construction across the swim, fitness and Splash lines).

Site prepA level 4-inch reinforced concrete pad rated for 26,000 lb, 3 ft of clearance all…Yes

PDC's manuals and installation guide ask for a level concrete pad designed for 26,000 lb (200 lb per sq ft), at least 4 inches thick with mesh or rebar tied to a bond wire, and shims at painted marks on the base before filling. Every swim spa hard-wires to a 50 A 240 V circuit with a Class A GFCI; dual-zone models need two, and PDC suggests 3 ft of access on every side. PDC doesn't recommend sinking the spa, says it isn't designed for in-floor installs, and excludes damage from an inadequate base.

Applies to: All 18 current models.

Running costNot full foam; California lists PDC's swim spas at 360-457 W standby, about 40%…Partly

PDC insulates its swim spas with an insulated TemperBase floor and warm pump air trapped in the cabinet cavity rather than foam, which keeps plumbing reachable. Its California energy listings, filed by model family (Swim15, Swim17, Swim19, Baja 12 and Baja 15), sit roughly 40-45% below the maximum allowed, but they were tested at 1,840-2,655 gallons, below the published volume of most 15- and 17-foot models, and the dual-zone listing covers only the hot tub side. PDC puts running cost at about $1.50 a day with no test conditions; the TempLock heat pump is an option.

Applies to: All 18 current models; CEC figures are family listings for the swim spas and exact listings for Splash.

Dual zoneFive dual-zone models add a separate 425-gallon, 5-seat hot tub with its own…Yes

The TSX219, SX219, SX219s, FX219 and FX219s split a 19-foot cabinet into a swim zone and a 5-seat hot tub, each with its own 5.5 kW heater, control pack, topside and GFCI circuit, so the two sides hold different temperatures. That takes two 50 A circuits and shrinks the lane to 100-118 inches. On Summit and Synergy duals the hot tub side gets ozone only, with UV-C optional; PDC doesn't say how much heat crosses the divider.

Applies to: TSX219, SX219, SX219s, FX219, FX219s.

Service accessNo foam to dig through and 3 ft of clearance asked, but PDC's own schedule replaces…Partly

Equipment sits behind removable cabinet panels at both ends, the cavity isn't foam-filled, and PDC asks for 3 feet of access on every side; the warranty won't pay to get at the equipment. TruSwim adds a hydraulic drive: PDC's 2026 manual recommends a yearly oil check with PDC's own biodegradable oil, a drain-down inspection at 2 years, and replacement of the hydraulic motors, stainless lines and props at 3 years, one year after the 2-year propulsion warranty ends. PDC publishes no cost for that work.

Applies to: All models; the hydraulic maintenance applies to TSX15, TSX17, TSX19 and TSX219.

Warranty terms35 years on the shell structure, but PDC pays repairs for 20, labor for 3, and…Partly

The 2026 swim and Splash card lists 35 years on structure (leaks through the fiberglass), 15 on the acrylic surface, 5 on pumps, heater, controls and plumbing, 3 on the cabinet and 1 on lights, ozone, Wi-Fi and audio. PDC pays labor for 3 years (2 on the TruSwim hydraulic system, which also has only a 2-year parts term), repairs at its factory with transport, removal and reinstallation on you, and has no authorized service representatives. It covers the first owner at the first address only, needs written notice within 10 days, and pays shell repairs only for the first 20 years.

Applies to: All 18 current models (one card for swim, fitness and Splash spas).

Cover and lifterA locking folding foam cover with a 4-inch sloped core is included; a lifter is…Partly

Every model ships with PDC's locking safety thermal cover, which PDC describes as a Deluxe folding foam cover with a full-length hinge seal, 4-inch sloped core, up to 12 locking straps and an estimated R-13. Lifters are options (the Cover Shelf end arms or the CoverMate III hydraulic assist) that the owner installs. The cover is warranted by its maker for 3 years, not by PDC.

Applies to: All 18 current models.

Service and originBuilt in Williamsport, Pennsylvania; PDC has no authorized service network, so…Partly

PDC builds all its swim spas at its Williamsport plant and sells through independent retailers in the US and Canada. Its 2026 warranty says it has no authorized service representatives: covered repairs happen at the factory with the owner paying transport, or at a shop the owner picks that PDC pays at its own rates for 3 years. One 2026 owner review describes waiting months for replacement swim spa step treads; the selling salesperson said they were waiting on a new manufacturer.

Applies to: All 18 current models.
