Bullfrog Spas reviews and complaints
Owner reviews of Bullfrog Spas run low: 1.5 of 5 on ConsumerAffairs from 58 reviews, and the Better Business Bureau lists 31 complaints in three years and rates the company A.
We run no star ratings of our own. A score a review site controls is worth nothing to a buyer. This is the evidence that exists elsewhere: complaint records, independent platforms, and what keeps coming up in owner forums, each one linked.

What comes up repeatedly
Praised
JetPak modularity and interchangeability
The brand's defining feature and its most praised. Owners value swapping jet configurations between seats without draining, matching each seat to a person, and buying different JetPaks later. Several owners say this alone is why they chose Bullfrog over Jacuzzi, Hot Spring or Sundance.
Massage and comfort
Consistent praise for how the massage feels. Every review that mentions it scored 4 or 5 stars.
Energy efficiency in practice
Most owners report running costs lower than expected, helped by the reduced-plumbing design; several report multi-year ownership with low bills. One 6-year A Series owner on ConsumerAffairs calls it energy efficient and easy to care for.
Dealer and delivery experience done well
Where the dealer is good, owners single out the salesperson by name, praise the delivery crew, and report fast JetPak warranty swaps with a loaner supplied. One A6L owner reports replacement JetPaks at the door in about a week.
Build quality and longevity
Praise for the synthetic (non-wood) frame and reduced plumbing runs. Long-term owners report tubs still running well at 6 and 15 years; one ConsumerAffairs reviewer reports a 2011 purchase still running with only minor repairs.
Manufacturer responds directly when escalated
An official 'Bullfrog Spas Support' account posts on the whatsthebest-hottub forum, asks owners for dealer and serial number, and takes issues offline. Forum regulars and dealers repeatedly say calling Bullfrog corporate at 801-565-8111 resolves cases a stalling dealer will not, and owners who did so report it worked.
Complained about
JetPak seal and gasket failures (leaks and buzzing at the seat)
The JetPak drops into a receptacle sealed by a foam O-ring. Owners report the O-ring unseating or distorting, which shows up as water shooting up behind the JetPak and a loud buzz or vibration in that seat under pump pressure. Bullfrog's field fix was 1/16-inch plastic spacer rings between JetPak and gasket, and later a redesigned (blue) O-ring.
Service hinges on the selling dealer
The most common complaint on independent platforms. Warranty service runs through the selling dealer, so owners' experience swings with dealer quality: unreturned calls, farmed-out service contractors, and owners stranded when a dealer closes. One 2026 A6L owner reports the selling dealer shut down and the remaining dealers are over an hour away.
Delivery delays and damaged-on-arrival units
Long waits between order and delivery, poor status communication, and units arriving with cracked corner panels, missing or wrong covers, missing filters, or loose control panels. Concentrated in the 2020 to 2021 demand spike but still present in 2026 reviews.
Cover fit, durability and warranty term
Fit: a 2023 A6L Select owner received an 8-inch-radius cover for the redesigned 4-inch-radius 2023 A Series shell, leaving corners exposed. Wind: an M9 owner reports the cover repeatedly blown off and the lifter tearing the corner panels, blamed on short skirts and weak clips.
Cabinet panel warping, bowing and detaching
Side and back panels bowing outward, sliding down, warping with dent-like suction marks, or falling off when first removed. Seen on both premium A Series and value Calm models, and on brand-new units.
Acrylic shell crazing and delamination (2015 to 2017 builds)
An A8L under three years old had its acrylic layers separate. The dealer called it crazing; Bullfrog accepted it as a material defect and agreed to replace the spa, then charged an $1,800 'upgrade fee' for newer technology, negotiated to about $1,500 with freight and setup waived.
Filtration capacity and water clarity
Recurring 2026 complaint that the filter is undersized for the tub: persistently cloudy water despite normal chemistry and light bathing load, and high filter cartridge cost (an M9 owner cites just under $100 for a 2-pack). Two 2026 X6R owners separately report foul smell and black residue in the plumbing.
Topside control panel and control-board failures
Topside and glass control panels failing repeatedly (one STIL7 owner reports a fourth set installed and failing, plus a swipe-to-clean screen that freezes), motherboard replacements on new units, and an A Series auxiliary control pad whose trim ring is held on by double-sided tape and lifts.
