Owners like

  • JetPak modularity and interchangeability. The brand's defining feature and its most praised. Owners value swapping jet configurations between seats without draining, matching each seat to a person, and buying different JetPaks later. Several owners say this alone is why they chose Bullfrog over Jacuzzi, Hot Spring or Sundance.
  • Massage and comfort. Consistent praise for how the massage feels. Every review that mentions it scored 4 or 5 stars.
  • Energy efficiency in practice. Most owners report running costs lower than expected, helped by the reduced-plumbing design; several report multi-year ownership with low bills. One 6-year A Series owner on ConsumerAffairs calls it energy efficient and easy to care for.
  • Dealer and delivery experience done well. Where the dealer is good, owners single out the salesperson by name, praise the delivery crew, and report fast JetPak warranty swaps with a loaner supplied. One A6L owner reports replacement JetPaks at the door in about a week.
  • Build quality and longevity. Praise for the synthetic (non-wood) frame and reduced plumbing runs. Long-term owners report tubs still running well at 6 and 15 years; one ConsumerAffairs reviewer reports a 2011 purchase still running with only minor repairs.
  • Manufacturer responds directly when escalated. An official 'Bullfrog Spas Support' account posts on the whatsthebest-hottub forum, asks owners for dealer and serial number, and takes issues offline. Forum regulars and dealers repeatedly say calling Bullfrog corporate at 801-565-8111 resolves cases a stalling dealer will not, and owners who did so report it worked.

Owners complain about

  • JetPak seal and gasket failures (leaks and buzzing at the seat). The JetPak drops into a receptacle sealed by a foam O-ring. Owners report the O-ring unseating or distorting, which shows up as water shooting up behind the JetPak and a loud buzz or vibration in that seat under pump pressure. Bullfrog's field fix was 1/16-inch plastic spacer rings between JetPak and gasket, and later a redesigned (blue) O-ring.
  • Service hinges on the selling dealer. The most common complaint on independent platforms. Warranty service runs through the selling dealer, so owners' experience swings with dealer quality: unreturned calls, farmed-out service contractors, and owners stranded when a dealer closes. One 2026 A6L owner reports the selling dealer shut down and the remaining dealers are over an hour away.
  • Delivery delays and damaged-on-arrival units. Long waits between order and delivery, poor status communication, and units arriving with cracked corner panels, missing or wrong covers, missing filters, or loose control panels. Concentrated in the 2020 to 2021 demand spike but still present in 2026 reviews.
  • Cover fit, durability and warranty term. Fit: a 2023 A6L Select owner received an 8-inch-radius cover for the redesigned 4-inch-radius 2023 A Series shell, leaving corners exposed. Wind: an M9 owner reports the cover repeatedly blown off and the lifter tearing the corner panels, blamed on short skirts and weak clips.
  • Cabinet panel warping, bowing and detaching. Side and back panels bowing outward, sliding down, warping with dent-like suction marks, or falling off when first removed. Seen on both premium A Series and value Calm models, and on brand-new units.
  • Acrylic shell crazing and delamination (2015 to 2017 builds). An A8L under three years old had its acrylic layers separate. The dealer called it crazing; Bullfrog accepted it as a material defect and agreed to replace the spa, then charged an $1,800 'upgrade fee' for newer technology, negotiated to about $1,500 with freight and setup waived.
  • Filtration capacity and water clarity. Recurring 2026 complaint that the filter is undersized for the tub: persistently cloudy water despite normal chemistry and light bathing load, and high filter cartridge cost (an M9 owner cites just under $100 for a 2-pack). Two 2026 X6R owners separately report foul smell and black residue in the plumbing.
  • Topside control panel and control-board failures. Topside and glass control panels failing repeatedly (one STIL7 owner reports a fourth set installed and failing, plus a swipe-to-clean screen that freezes), motherboard replacements on new units, and an A Series auxiliary control pad whose trim ring is held on by double-sided tape and lifts.

How it’s built. The 8 build checks, in plain words.

The same eight checks we run on every brand, answered from Bullfrog Spas’ own documents. Tap one for what it means and the evidence.

Self-supporting shellDoes the shell hold itself up?No
Shell layers: an acrylic skin backed by fiberglass, self-supporting compared with propped on posts

A molded ABS frame carries the water weight, not the shell.

Bullfrog builds the structure into a separate ABS EnduraFrame with extra supports under high-use seats, then fully encases the acrylic shell in closed-cell foam. The shell warranty promises no leaks rather than structural integrity. Full foam also means a tech has to cut foam away to reach a plumbing leak.

Applies to: All series, which share the EnduraFrame structure and full-foam insulation

Clamped plumbingAre the hoses glued and clamped? Not published
How a hose joint goes together: glue on the ridged barb, the hose pushed on, then a stainless clamp tightened; beside it, a clamped joint (good) and a glue-only joint years later, weeping

Bullfrog Spas doesn't publish this. Ask the dealer.

Bullfrog never says whether its joints are glued PVC or barbed fittings with clamps, and the manual only tells you to hand-tighten a leaking fitting. One outside site claims glued and clamped lines, with nothing to back it up. Ask a dealer to open the equipment bay and show you.

Applies to: All models

Manifold-fed jetsDoes each jet get its own line?Partly
Manifold plumbing feeds each jet its own hose; daisy-chained jets share one line

Each seat feeds from a manifold, but seats may run in series.

Every JetPak gasket seats into the H2Air manifold instead of splicing into a hose run, and the jets inside a pack feed off that manifold. Bullfrog's own older patent shows the seat manifolds chained one to the next along the supply line. Whether current tubs still do that is not published.

Applies to: JetPak lines (M Series, A Series, STIL and Swim Series); plumbing on X Series and Calm is unknown

Standard partsCan any repair tech buy the parts?Partly
A pump labelled with the supplier's own name and number is sold in many places; one with only a house number is sold in one place

Standard controls and pumps, but JetPaks are Bullfrog-only.

Boards, topside panels, pumps, motors, jets and filters are industry-standard parts any tech can buy. The JetPaks, the H2Air manifold and the frame are patented Bullfrog designs that independent retailers do not stock. Routine repairs stay cheap and easy, while anything JetPak-related goes back through the dealer.

Applies to: All models

Compression-fitted jetsAre the jet bodies held by a nut, not glue?Partly
Three ways a jet body is held in the shell: threaded with a gasket and back nut that unscrews (good), pushed into a rubber grommet (OK), or glued in and cut out to replace (avoid)

Shell jets bolt in with a nut; jets inside JetPaks aren't documented.

Bullfrog's parts store sells shell jet bodies with nuts and gaskets for fixed-jet seats. A JetPak lifts out whole and seals to the shell with a gasket. How the jets attach inside the pack isn't published, and packs are sold only complete.

Applies to: All series

Adjustable jetsCan you turn each jet up or down? Not published
Three jet controls: turning a jet's face changes that one jet, a diverter knob moves water from one seat to another, an air control adds bubbles

Bullfrog Spas’ documents cover other series, not this one. Ask the dealer.

Applies to: A Series checked directly; other JetPak lines likely work the same. X Series and Calm not verified

Service networkCan someone near you fix it?Partly
A dealer's technician close by drives a parts-stocked van to the house quickly; a home far from any dealer waits longer, and in winter a long wait can freeze the plumbing

Dealers do the service, and only they stock the JetPak parts.

Bullfrog sells through authorized dealers and its own factory stores, and the manual sends every warranty issue to them. Manuals are published free and commodity parts are easy to source, which helps an independent tech. The proprietary JetPak and manifold parts are not widely stocked outside the network.

Applies to: All models, North America

American made?Built in Bluffdale, Utah and Herriman, Utah.Yes
Yes: built in a US plant the maker names. Partly: a US plant and one abroad, with no word on which built yours. No: built abroad, with molded parts shipped from there

Built in Bluffdale, Utah and Herriman, Utah.

Bluffdale, Utah: Plant completed in 2003 and headquarters until 2020; converted in 2022 to build Swim Series swim spas. Herriman, Utah: 286,000 sq ft headquarters opened in 2020 with manufacturing, warehousing, retail and offices.
