Master Spas error codes and messages by series
Short answer
It depends on the series. Legend uses Gecko's in.k1000+ keypad, so FLO, HL and OH mean what they mean on Gecko, plus 7 service codes from the variable-speed pump. Getaway uses a Balboa pack and Balboa's messages. Twilight's flx.go dial shows a red fire triangle when the water reaches 108°F.

What you can check yourself
- Check the water level and top it up to the line in your manual.
- Clean the filter, or replace it if it is worn.
- Purge an air lock the way your owner's manual describes.
- Reset the GFCI or breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off.
Where the owner's part ends
Anything else: turn off power at the breaker and call a technician.
Master Spas' troubleshooting ends at the GFCI breaker: if it trips again or the spa stays off, contact your dealer or a licensed electrician. Turn off power at the breaker first.
What do the codes on a Master Spas Legend mean?
The Legend Series runs Gecko's in.k1000+ keypad, and Master Spas prints Gecko's messages with its own actions. For flow messages it says to check the water level, make sure the pumps are primed and not air locked, clean the filters and clear the bottom suctions. For an overheat it says to confirm with a digital thermometer, let the water cool or add fresh cold water, and reset at the breaker once it is below 107°F. Every keypad message is on the Gecko error codes page.
The Legend adds service codes from its variable-speed (VMS) pumps. They appear as numbers that double: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64.

What does the red triangle on a Twilight mean?
The Twilight's flx.go dial has no code list. A red triangle with an exclamation point on the sleep screen means an error is active, and the error menu explains it. A red fire triangle means the water is at 108°F or more; Master Spas points to heat creep from long filter cycles or warm-weather settings.

What do the messages on a Getaway hot tub mean?
Getaway tubs use a Balboa VS500Z pack with a VL400-family panel, and the manual prints Balboa's diagnostic messages: overheat at 118°F in the heater or 110°F in the water, sensor A and B faults, heater flow loss (HL), a heater flow fail after the fifth flow loss in 24 hours, and the heater-may-be-dry (dr) sequence. Each is explained on the Balboa error codes page.
Common questions
What does the red triangle mean on a Master Spas hot tub?
On the Twilight's flx.go dial, a red triangle with an exclamation point means an error is active; open the error menu. A red fire triangle means the water is 108°F (42°C) or hotter. Stay out of the water.
What is Master Spas error code 28 or 27?
The 2026 Master Spas manuals we read do not print numbered codes, so we do not assign one. On Balboa BP systems M027 is heater dry and M028 heater may be dry, and current Jacuzzi manuals use Code 27 and 28 the same way. Check the manual for your panel or ask your dealer.
How do I reset a Master Spas hot tub after an overheat?
On the Legend, Master Spas says to check the water with a digital thermometer, take the cover off, and once it is below 107°F reset the system by turning the breaker off and back on. If the error comes back quickly, call your dealer.
What does Service Code 8 mean on a Master Spas Legend?
The variable-speed (VMS) pump has overheated. Let it cool before running it again; if it happens in normal use, the pump may need replacing, which is a dealer job.
