Sundance Spas error codes

Short answer

Sundance's 2016 680 Series shows short codes: FL1 and FL2 for the pressure switch, SN1 and SN2 for the sensors, OH when the water reaches 112°F, and ICE or COL for cold water. The 2025 880 Series manual numbers its messages instead, from Code 1 (freeze) to Code 80, the same numbers current Jacuzzi manuals use.

A hot tub control panel showing an error code, and the owner's manual, which names the control system
The panel shows the code. Its label is often the spa's brand, so check the manual for the control system.

What you can check yourself

  1. Check the water level and top it up to the line in your manual.
  2. Clean the filter, or replace it if it is worn.
  3. Purge an air lock the way your owner's manual describes.

Where the owner's part ends

Anything else: turn off power at the breaker and call a technician.

SN1, SN2, OH that keeps returning and the watchdog (three dashes) need your Sundance dealer. Turn off power at the breaker. Never bypass the pressure switch.

How do you fix FL1 or FL2 on a Sundance?

FL1 says the pressure switch did not close when jets pump 1 started; FL2 says it is stuck closed. Either way the heater turns off. Sundance's steps are the same for both: water about an inch below the lowest pillow, clean filters, then let trapped air out of jets pump 1 the way the manual shows (finger-tight only). If FL2 stays after that, the switch itself has failed.

What do the numbered Sundance codes mean?

The 880 Series manual names each number briefly: Code 16 is low flow, 17 failed flow, 27 a dry heater, 29 water too hot, 30 heater too hot. The same numbers appear in the 2025 Jacuzzi J-300 manual, which adds what to do for several of them. See Jacuzzi error codes.

Some 680 to 980 Series tubs were part of a temperature sensor recall; see hot tub recalls.

Common questions

What does FL1 mean on a Sundance spa?

The pressure switch did not close when jets pump 1 started, so the heater is off. Sundance's fix: bring the water to about an inch below the lowest pillow, clean the filters, purge the air from jets pump 1 as the manual describes, and call your dealer if it continues.

What does SN1 mean on a Sundance hot tub?

The high-limit sensor is open (heater off) or shorted (spa off). SN2 is the same fault in the water temperature sensor. Sundance says your authorized dealer must repair both.

What does OH mean on a Sundance spa?

The water reached 112°F (44°C). The low-speed pump runs to move water through the heater. Stay out, take the cover off and let it cool.

What does COL mean on a Sundance hot tub?

The water is 20°F (11°C) below the set temperature, often after a refill. The pump and heater turn on to bring it within 15°F. No action is needed.

Do Sundance and Jacuzzi use the same error codes?

Their current manuals do: the 2025 Sundance 880 and the 2025 Jacuzzi J-300 print the same code numbers and names. Older models differ, for example COL on Sundance and COOL on Jacuzzi.
