Owners like
- Strong ratings on the brand's own review system. Across all 29 catalog hot tubs, Bazaarvoice reviews average 4.41 out of 5 over 3,989 reviews (weighted by review count), with 25 of 29 models at 4.2 or above.
- Hydrotherapy, jet power and insulation praised by satisfied owners. Positive owners single out jet strength, insulation quality, the Wi-Fi control module and the audio system, and describe the spa as worth buying at the top of the option list.
- The tub itself satisfies even when a component disappoints. Mixed reviews often rate the shell, seating and therapy well and save the complaint for one component, most often the cover, pillows or topside control.
- Where the dealer is good, service is praised specifically. Dealer-run service produces both the worst complaints and the strongest praise: positive reviews name the dealer and the service tech rather than the manufacturer.
- High sales and installation satisfaction on Houzz. 4.7 out of 5 across 743 reviews on the company's Fort Wayne Houzz profile.
- Manufacturer responds publicly and substantively to complaints. Master Spas answers BBB reviews and complaints and has posted 233 company responses on its PissedConsumer page, frequently with specific warranty records and technical explanation rather than boilerplate.
Owners complain about
- Warranty service coordination and slow dealer-mediated repairs. The single dominant complaint. Owners report warranty work stalling between Master Spas and the independent dealer assigned to service them, with repeated unreturned calls and weeks to months out of use. BBB categorized 18 of 20 published complaints as 'Service or Repair Issues'.
- Topside panel, keypad and circuit board failures. Digital topside controls and main boards failing, including within days of delivery, plus a replacement panel that fogged internally and a wrong replacement panel shipped against a supplied serial number.
- Pump failures, including on brand-new units. Jet pumps failing at or shortly after delivery and recurring after replacement.
- Parts availability and long parts waits. Owners and at least one dealer report multi-month waits for parts, including backordered saltwater-system components.
- High service-call and out-of-warranty repair costs, with one service provider per territory. Owners describe per-visit service pricing well above typical rates and no alternative authorized provider, because Master Spas assigns one servicing dealer per territory.
- Pillows, headrests and cover foam degrading early. Pillows rotting or corroding within the first years, and cover foam inserts becoming waterlogged so the cover sags and pools rainwater.
- Jet pressure not simultaneous across all seats. Owners expecting strong jets in every seat at once find that diverter valves concentrate pressure in two seats at a time.
- Leaks at jet housings, o-rings and plumbing. Jet hardware working loose and leaks requiring owners to open up the cabinet or dig underneath.
Master Spas as a company
How it’s built. The 8 build checks, in plain words.
The same eight checks we run on every brand, answered from Master Spas’ own documents. Tap one for what it means and the evidence.
Self-supporting shellDoes the shell hold itself up?Yes
Clamped plumbingAre the hoses glued and clamped?Yes
Manifold-fed jetsDoes each jet get its own line?Yes

Manifold plumbing, so closing one jet doesn't starve the next.
Master Spas lists a manifold system as a build feature and stocks about sixteen manifolds under its own part numbers, which a daisy-chained brand would not need. Each jet gets its own hose off a branch port. A few short series runs elsewhere in the tub are still possible.
Applies to: All acrylic models (from the maker's construction page). Per-model circuit layouts weren't checked; a manifold tub can still have short daisy-chained runs
Standard partsCan any repair tech buy the parts?Yes
Compression-fitted jetsAre the jet bodies held by a nut, not glue?Yes

Jet bodies are held by a gasket and a back nut, so a leaking one is resealed, not cut out.
Each jet body goes through the shell and is clamped to it by a rubber gasket and a threaded nut on the back. A body that leaks or cracks can be resealed or unscrewed and replaced without cutting the shell.
Applies to: All models
Adjustable jetsCan you turn each jet up or down?Yes

Most jets adjust by turning the face; some are fixed.
The manual says most jets can be turned down or shut off one at a time. Foot, neck and small cluster jets are fixed, and the air knobs are shared across a seat or two. The warranty excludes seized adjustable internals, the usual hard-water failure, but the part is cheap.
Applies to: All acrylic hot tubs, based on the value-line 2024 LH Series; premium lines have the same or richer jets. Small cluster, neck and foot jets are fixed
Service networkCan someone near you fix it?Partly

One of the biggest brands, with a large dealer network, but service is harder far from a dealer.
Most areas have a Master Spas dealer nearby, and independent suppliers stock its parts and sell them to any service tech. Warranty claims still go in writing to the dealer who sold you the tub, within ten days, so if you live far from a dealer, expect to wait longer for warranty service. Find out who services your area before you buy.
Applies to: US and Canada residential. International markets (UK, NZ, Australia) run separate warranty documents and were not assessed.
American made?Built in Fort Wayne, Indiana.Yes

Fort Wayne, Indiana: 614,000 sq ft plant on a 45-acre campus, the company says (2026). Fort Wayne, Indiana (510 Sumpter Drive): Swim spa building added in the 2018 expansion. Fort Wayne, Indiana (original): Started in a 90,000 sq ft facility, per its 25th-anniversary post.
Applies to: All US and Canada acrylic hot tubs, cold tubs and swim spas, plus export models from the same plant. A separately branded Alpine line in the New Zealand warranty archive wasn't traced to a factory
