Owners like

  • Older tubs that keep going. The strongest positive: Marquis tubs built in the 1990s and 2000s are repeatedly reported still running at 16 to 28 years, often with only wear-item replacement. Owners of 1997, 1998, 2005 and 2006 tubs describe shells and cabinets still in good condition.
  • Massage and seat comfort. Consistent praise for the massage and seat ergonomics, with the Epic singled out over many years. Manufacturer testimonials make similar claims but are curated marketing copy.
  • Well regarded by shoppers. Across shopping threads from 2007 to 2026 Marquis is routinely included in the credible mid-to-upper tier alongside Hot Spring, Sundance, Jacuzzi, Caldera, Artesian and D1, and is rarely warned against on build quality alone. Its lower public profile is noted as a reason buyers hesitate.
  • Delivery and installation crews. Repeated praise for installers handling difficult placements: fence disassembly and rebuild, long carries, old-tub removal, clean sites and on-time completion.
  • Helpful when you reach Marquis directly. Where owners reach Marquis corporate directly rather than through a dealer, several report fast, knowledgeable help, including a Sunday callback within the hour in July 2026 and a prompt BBB-escalated parts resolution in 2023.
  • Quiet running. A small number of owners praise low noise, including the Quiet Soak jets-off mode.

Owners complain about

  • Parts on back-order. Owners and dealers report multi-month back-orders and discontinued parts (control boards, topside panels, a Crown Resort dynamic flow control valve, filters). Several owners tie this to the 2021 private-equity sale and the 2023 move of acrylic manufacturing from Oregon to Nevada.
  • Control board and spa pack failures. Main control board and spa pack failures, including on tubs well short of a typical 20-year life. Reported failure ages range from about 2 to 9 years. Repair is often quoted near or above the point where owners consider replacing the tub.
  • Topside panel failures. Topside control panels and LCD displays failing: dead pixels, no button response, repeated replacement. Replacement Marquis topside panels are expensive, and several online shops list them as discontinued, pushing owners toward aftermarket Balboa parts.
  • Warranty claims. The most consistently negative theme. Reports of unreturned emails and calls, no record of a reported issue against the serial number, claims left open for many months, one denial for leaving the tub uncovered, and capped warranty labor reimbursement that leaves the owner paying the dealer's rate difference and trip fees.
  • Leaks on newer tubs. Persistent leaks on tubs still under warranty, distinct from age-related plumbing failure. Includes repeated failed repair attempts with insulation cut away to chase the leak.
  • Plumbing leaks on older tubs. Owners of Marquis tubs 15 to 20+ years old report PVC and fittings reaching end of life, with technicians declining repairs because disturbing shrunken PVC causes new leaks. This looks like normal aging of a long-lived tub rather than a defect.
  • Covers that wear out. Owners report covers failing in several ways: seams and zippers splitting at about three years, an internal metal reinforcing plate rusting and shedding particles into the water, foam cores waterlogging and needing repeated replacement, and mildew inside the vapor barrier. Replacement cost is also a complaint.
  • MicroSilk failures. The extra-cost MicroSilk option (one owner cites nearly $2,000) failing: the pump stops producing, there is no water flow, and warranty replacement is slow.

How it’s built. The 8 build checks, in plain words.

The same eight checks we run on every brand, answered from Marquis’ own documents. Tap one for what it means and the evidence.

Self-supporting shellDoes the shell hold itself up?Yes
Shell layers: an acrylic skin backed by fiberglass, self-supporting compared with propped on posts

Hand-rolled fiberglass shell that holds the water on its own.

Marquis backs its acrylic with multiple hand-rolled layers of vinyl-ester resin and fiberglass, a laminate built to carry the water load itself. Like most full-foam tubs it also sits in a hem-fir frame packed with spray foam, but the shell does not depend on them to keep from flexing.

Applies to: All acrylic hot tubs (Crown, Vector21, Elite and Celebrity); swim spas not assessed

Clamped plumbingAre the hoses glued and clamped?Partly
How a hose joint goes together: glue on the ridged barb, the hose pushed on, then a stainless clamp tightened; beside it, a clamped joint (good) and a glue-only joint years later, weeping

Glued joints confirmed. Whether the barb fittings get clamps is unpublished.

Marquis primes and solvent-welds its PVC lines, which is the durable way to do it. Jets and manifolds use barbed fittings with flexible hose behind the shell. Nobody has shown whether those barbs get a clamp or hold on glue alone.

Applies to: All models; water lines only, air lines not assessed

Manifold-fed jetsDoes each jet get its own line? Not published
Manifold plumbing feeds each jet its own hose; daisy-chained jets share one line

Marquis’ documents cover other series, not this one. Ask the dealer.

Applies to: Zoning is best documented for Vector21 and Crown. How the jets within one seat are fed isn't known on any line

Standard partsCan any repair tech buy the parts?Partly
A pump labelled with the supplier's own name and number is sold in many places; one with only a house number is sold in one place

Balboa controls, CMP and Waterway jets, under Marquis part numbers.

The circuit boards, pumps and topside panels are Balboa, and jets and internals come from Custom Molded Products and Waterway, all carrying Marquis part numbers. The Vector21 Jetpods and Crown RHK jet bodies are Marquis-only. Marquis will not sell parts direct, but at least six independent suppliers stock them.

Applies to: All models. True for electronics, pumps and jet internals; less so for Marquis-only molded parts (Jetpods, RHK jet bodies, DuraBase)

Compression-fitted jetsAre the jet bodies held by a nut, not glue?Partly
Three ways a jet body is held in the shell: threaded with a gasket and back nut that unscrews (good), pushed into a rubber grommet (OK), or glued in and cut out to replace (avoid)

Older jets bolt in with a nut; current jet bodies aren't documented.

Parts sellers list nuts, gaskets and wall fittings for Marquis' older ISO jets. For the current Crown, Century II and Jetpod jets only the inserts are documented, and Marquis publishes nothing on the bodies. Nothing shows glued bodies.

Applies to: All series

Adjustable jetsCan you turn each jet up or down?Yes
Three jet controls: turning a jet's face changes that one jet, a diverter knob moves water from one seat to another, an air control adds bubbles

Faces turn on and off, and Vector21 throttles by seat.

Turning the jet face opens or closes it, and that works across the line. Vector21 adds valves that dial a seat from zero to full pressure, while Crown uses red and blue flow-control valves. Not every jet is adjustable, which is normal.

Applies to: All models, for opening and closing each jet. Vector21 adds per-seat throttling, Crown has diverter-style flow control, and Elite and Celebrity use simpler diverters or pump assignment

Service networkCan someone near you fix it?Yes
A dealer's technician close by drives a parts-stocked van to the house quickly; a home far from any dealer waits longer, and in winter a long wait can freeze the plumbing

Sold and serviced through independent dealers, with parts widely stocked.

Your dealer is the service counter and handles warranty parts. Because the electronics are Balboa, a tech who has never touched a Marquis can still source a board or pump. The company moved from Oregon to Las Vegas, so ask your dealer about parts supply.

Applies to: All models, mainly North America; Marquis also distributes in the UK and Europe

American made?Built in Las Vegas, Nevada.Yes
Yes: built in a US plant the maker names. Partly: a US plant and one abroad, with no word on which built yours. No: built abroad, with molded parts shipped from there

Built in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Las Vegas, Nevada: Built here since 2023, sharing Artesian's plant.

Applies to: All models; tubs built through about 2023 came from a different factory
